b'S E C T I O N H E A D E RWe now merchandise nearly all our wines on shelves with shelf tickets that give clear descriptions and Ive been able to stock an extensive range of genuinely interesting wines from a number of different suppliers. As such weve become a true independent specialist, offering something thats genuinely interesting and different to most of our competitors. As a result, weve moved the average price of the bottles we sell from below 10.00 to around 20.00 for White and 23.00 for Red.Tell us a bit about Noble Greens customer profileAlthough our location (TW12 postcode) is an affluent area, its not quite as affluent as nearby Twickenham and Teddington and we have Bushey Park very close to us (which covers 445 hectares) so the area isnt quite as densely populated as you might think. We also have the Thames near us and the congestion that occurs around the crossing points can sometimes be a bit of a deterrent to people visiting the area. However, because property is slightly cheaper, we seem to have a lot of young families in the area (couples in their 30s and 40s) and this typifies our customer base. I also think that the reputation weve developed makes us a real destination for customers from nearby Teddington and Twickenham. It definitely helps that we have a car park. When Peter Buckley and our Operations Director, Mike Gould, set up the business in 2005 one of his perquisites was to have a car park, akin to the Majestic model, and this has paid dividends. The other thing that Ive noticed about our customers is that they are generally more wine-educated now than theyve ever been before. I think one can attribute some of this to the guys who used to work in Majestic and Oddbins in Fine Wine news from Fells 35'
