Top scores for Miguel Torres Chile

Miguel Torres Chile were delighted to have three of their wines included in the recent Descorchados Chile 2024, a guide created by the renowned journalist and wine critic Patricio Tapia.

The Miguel Torres Chile wines were amongst just twelve wines selected for the report and topped the rankings in their respective categories.

Manso de Velasco 2020, which obtained 97 points, was named as the “Best of Curicó” and ranked among the best Cabernet Sauvignons in Chile, while Los Inquietos 01 – 2021, obtained 96 points, and was named as among the “Best of Maule”.

Escaleras de Empedrado was awarded 95 points in the ranking and was named “Best Pinot Noir”. 

When Miguel Torres arrived in the Curicó Valley in 1979 he discovered an area that had ideal growing conditions. With the benefit of over 100 years of family history in producing quality Spanish Wines, he brought modern wine making expertise to the region and built the first winery in Chile to use innovative techniques, including stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels.

Over the past 30 years the Miguel Torres winery has established itself as one of the main producers of high-quality wines, through the strength of its winemaking expertise and the company’s commitment to social responsibility and the environment.

In 2020 the winery met their 2008 target to cut carbon emissions by 30% per bottle since by implementing several sustainable projects including being one of the first wineries in Chile to switch to solar panels as a source of renewable energy.

As part of their commitment to the local community, Miguel Torres Chile have invested over $1 Million in social projects for small communities including building houses, schools, and sports clubs. They have also purchased 5,000 hectares of land within Patagonia with the aim of re-planting trees as part of a reforestation project.
