Tyrrell’s Winemaker’s Selection new vintages release

The Winemaker’s Selection is Tyrrell’s flagship range. Made in small volumes and produced using only the best parcels of fruit from their top vineyards, these wines showcase the very best that the Hunter Valley has to offer.

One of Australia’s oldest and most awarded collections of wine. The name ‘vat’ stems from the still present large oak maturation vessels which were used by the Tyrrell’s forebears. And the number represents the cask in which that style of wine was originally fermented or matured.

Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon NV

Winemaker’s Selection VAT 1 Semillon 2017

Vat 1 Semillon only ever comes from the oldest and best blocks. The vines are all dry grown, on their own roots, and date back to 1923. The 2017 Vintage was one of the best in recent memory and has produced wines of the highest quality.

Tyrrell's Vat 47 ChardonnayLR

Winemaker’s Selection VAT 47 Chardonnay 2021

The 2021 vintage marks the 50th release of Vat 47, Australia’s first Chardonnay. Vibrant green in colour, it has a delicate, perfectly balanced nose that sits in the background. The purity, intensity, and length of fruit is what sets this vintage apart from others in recent times.

Tyrrell's Vat 9 ShirazLR

Winemaker’s Selection VAT 9 Shiraz 2021

Handpicked and sorted during the second week of February, the blocks were separately fermented in open top vats. The individual wines were then mostly matured in newer French oak casks until the blend was assembled in November 2021. The blend was then matured for a further five months before bottling.
