Cooperage
In 2003, with their “no pain, no gain” motto still beating through the heart of the Guigal family, they decided to launch a new venture: barrel-making. With the single-minded desire to produce the best wines, this can only be done with total control of every step of the winemaking process, of which barrel-ageing plays a large part.
Both artisanal and ancestral knowledge allow Guigal to master this skill of barrel-making, with oak barrels made from finely grained wood from the best forests in France. Around 800 new barrels are made each year to fulfil the annual requirements in the winery, where the best wines only are aged in new oak barrels.
