Château de Nalys

Having selected and matured wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape since their Domaine’s founding in 1946, the Southern Rhône’s most famous appellation has always held a special place in the Guigal family’s hearts.

So the purchase of the Château de Nalys estate in 2017 marked the fulfilment of a long-held dream. Nalys is one of Châteauneuf’s most historic properties – among the oldest in the appellation, listed in the land register at the end of the sixteenth century.

The Guigal family noted the potential of its exceptional terroir and have set about building a state-of-the-art winery worthy of its exceptional vineyard. The architect is Amelia Tavella, winner of the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture and a Knight of the French Order of Merit.

Since 2017 the Guigals have carefully nurtured the existing wines of Nalys, but 2026 is an exciting vintage indeed – the first to be created by the Guigal family from Nalys fruit and in the newly-finished winery. Philippe believes Châteauneuf, with its potential choice of 13 varieties, and the huge possibility for blending and flexibility they offer, may be the future of French viticulture and winemaking. Needless to say, the 2026 vintage is one we’re more than a little excited about.
