Fells welcomes a new brand from Italy’s oldest winemaking family

Fells is delighted to welcome a new premium Italian wine brand to their already-impressive lineup and from an old friend with peerless heritage in the world of Tuscan wine.

Innesto is the brainchild of Sofia Ricasoli, the latest generation of the Ricasoli family, whose winery in Tuscany dates back to 1141, making it one of the oldest in the world and the oldest in Italy.

Sofia has brought a new perspective to a legacy she knows intimately. While shaped by a deep-rooted understanding of Chianti Classico, Innesto is conceived as an independent space – a project driven by curiosity, intention and the desire to carve out a language of its own.

Meaning ‘graft’ in Italian, Innesto reflects this dual nature: grounded yet forward-looking. The project launches with two wines that express complementary dimensions. A 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva captures the essence and precision of its place of origin, while a multi-vintage Toscana IGT highlights Sofia’s modern, innovative approach, revealing a more layered and evolving dimension shaped by time.

‘It was an easy decision to partner with Fells for the launch of Innesto in the UK,’ says Sofia. ‘My family’s work with them over the years has given me an understanding of how deeply they care about family wineries and premium wineries with a strong sense of place and identity – something that resonates deeply with the spirit of Innesto.’

‘We’re overjoyed that Sofia has trusted us with her new creation,’ says Euan Mackay, Managing Director of Fells. ‘It’s no small measure of our closeness with the Ricasoli family, and with Sofia in particular – and we don’t take it for granted. Innesto is a true celebration of the past, present and future of Tuscan winemaking; wines with a clear and distinct identity which sit perfectly alongside our existing Tuscan offering.’

Innesto will be available from Fells from 22nd April in the UK, and Fells is the exclusive UK distributor for the wines.
