Guigal’s named best French Syrah

Guigal’s Saint-Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge 2019 has been named best French Syrah.

Mike Desimone and Jeff Jenssen, known by their moniker “The World Wine Guys,” have named Guigal’s Saint-Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge 2019 as the best French Syrah as part of their “9 Best Syrah and Shiraz to Buy Right Now” article in the Robb Report, a luxury lifestyle magazine.

In the article, they scoured the Northern and Southern Hemispheres to find the very best of the varietal and their pick for France was from Guigal. Within fine company from Penfold’s St. Henri to Tua Rita’s Per Sempre, they described the Guigal St. Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge as having “aromas of black plum, black cherry, and freshly ground black pepper with flavours of red plum, dried cherry, and vanilla crème cookies.” The wine was awarded 95 Points from Jeb Dunnuck and 94 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Whilst Fells have no more stock of the 2019 vintage of this wine, the 2020 is now in stock, scoring 96 points from Jeb Dunnock and 94 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
