Familia Torres
Since it was founded in 1870, Familia Torres has built up a reputation for combing innovation, dynamism and commitment to quality which has put them, and Catalonia, firmly on the world map. As part of the 4th generation, Miguel A. Torres has been described as “one of Spain’s most innovative and influential winemakers”. As well as being one of the first exponents of stainless-steel tanks and temperature-controlled fermentation, he also pioneered the planting of non Spanish grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, in his native Spain.
Today they remain a wholly independent and family-owned company, which is now run by 5th generation of the family, Miguel Torres Maczassek. Familia Torres are well known for their many internationally awarded wines. The flagship wine Mas La Plana, became famous in 1979 when the 1970 vintage won the Gault-Millau Wine Olympiad in Paris, with higher marks than top French Châteaux such as Château Latour and Château Haut-Brion and has won numerous accolades ever since.

Jean Leon
The small Penedés winery that was founded in 1963 by Jean Leon (born Ceferino Carrión in Santander), a visionary who realized his two great dreams: opening the most VIP restaurant in Hollywood and making an exclusive wine to delight his select clientele. Diagnosed with cancer in 1994, he decided to entrust the Torres family with his legacy to ensure the continuity of his winery and maintain the unique personality and identity of the wines that bear his name. Under the leadership of Mireia Torres (sister of Miguel Torres Maczessek), the Jean Leon winery was the first in Spain to make a single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon wine and to obtain the “Vi di Finca” (single vineyard) recognition in Penedès for four of its wines, the maximum distinction awarded by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. With 65 hectares to its name, all Jean Leon wines have been certified organic since the 2012 vintage and are exported to more than 40 countries.
The icon wine La Scala was named after the Hollywood restaurant that Jean Leon opened with the help of his friend James Dean in the golden era of Hollywood. The wine has won many awards and was even served at President Regan’s inaugural dinner in 1981.
