A tale of eleven Louis’s

This week it was our pleasure to welcome Eléonore Latour to Fells HQ for a proper 101 of all things Maison Louis Latour.

Vice-President of the Maison, twelfth generation of the family since they set up the winemaking business in Aloxe-Corton and, as we learned, the first not to be called ‘Louis’, Eléonore brought with her a wealth of fascinating stories … not to mention a wealth of superb wines for the team to taste.

Graciously, she agreed to share her knowledge with us on camera, in conversation with Brand Manager Flo Fagan – and we’re delighted to pass it all on to you today in this series of videos.

From their history (continued today) as coopers, to their decision to replant Corton with Chardonnay grapes after phylloxera, to her grandfather’s bold and (at the time) much questioned move to set up vineyards in the Ardeche, these are fascinating insights into one of Burgundy’s elite family producers.

Pour yourself a glass, and enjoy.

Eléonore Latour, 12th generation of Maison Louis Latour, chats to Brand Manager Flo Fagan about her family’s origins in Burgundy, and their home on the famous hill of Corton.
In this second instalment, Eléonore tells Flo about the 11 generations of Louis that came before her, and the winery’s membership of a very special ‘200 Club’ before tasting their flagship Chateau Corton Grancey.
In part three of our conversation with Eléonore Latour she shares the three-year process of gaining organic certification and cuts through the potential labyrinth of Burgundy appellations.
