The ultimate Port and Blue Cheese pairing

A New Year’s reminder that Port and blue cheese are not just for Christmas…

A couple of months ago our Symington Brand Ambassador, Henry, had the arduous job of teaming up with cheese expert Patrick McGuigan to uncover the ultimate versions of this world class pairing for Good Cheese Magazine.

Over an afternoon at Hambledon Wine Estate they matched nine Ports with nine international blue cheeses, finding happy marriages in every style, from Vintage to Tawny – even White Ports with and without tonic.

Henry’s top picks from the tasting? Almost impossible to choose, he told us, but these were the three he especially singled out:

Gorgonzola Dolce with Graham’s Single Harvest Tawny 2011

Colston Bassett Stilton with Dow’s Quinta do Bomfim 2013

Harbourne Blue with Graham’s Blend No.5 White Port & Tonic
