Discovering Californian Chardonnay

We were delighted that Randy Ullom, Kendall-Jackson Winemaster was able to join us for our Portfolio tasting, held at One Great George Street on the 23rd February 2016.

At the tasting we were able to listen and share in Randy’s experience as a winemaster during his Chardonnay seminar. Taking us through a discovery which centred around the three main Californian appellations that make up Kendall-Jackson’s estate grown Vintner’s Reserve and Grand Reserve Chardonnay’s. Appellations Camelot - Santa Maria Valley), Seco Highlands - Arroyo Seco in Monterey and Piner hills - Russian River Valley

During the talk Randy, who has been making the wine for Kendall-Jackson for 23 years used this seminar to discuss Kendall-Jacksons own barrel production and how they control every aspect of the grape growing process by keeping each lot separate throughout the entire winemaking production so that the blend is consistent, delicious and unmatched in its tier. Explaining how each of the three key appellations bring a different set of characteristics to final blends of each Chardonnay.
